Keep in mind that you also have to provide the laptop or whatever you're connecting may have issues, so you have to do this with a known working device or a few devices so you can verify it is not the computer itself.Ĭan you give us a connection by connection run down of the devices between the optical fiber and the copper running into your computer? If they remain, I think you should prevail upon the ISP to correct it since it would rule out your equipment. If they go away, clearly you have something going on within your own equipment. How many devices do you have using the equipment and how many are wired vs wireless?Īssuming you have access to a copper wired port on ISP- provided equipment, I'd connect directly to that for a day and see if you have the same drop outs. What device is requesting DHCP? Your device or the ISPs? Who provided the "DKT" device? You or your carrier? Is there yet another box inside the DKT that you own? I presume that you don't have static IPs from the carrier either because they talk about the devices requesting DHCP repeatedly. I don't see an ASUS branded thing with a DKT model, but I do see a NetGear. Later they say they can see all the way to the DKT (which I presume is a copper-connected box). The ISP says that everything up to the optical fed box is stable with strong signal. If I understand the whole issue correctly, your carrier is providing fiber so you probably have some kind of a media conversion device that has copper out. This email is a fantastic step in the right direction towards sorting the issue, however I don't know how I could solve this on my side without replacing my router?Ĭould this be a DHCP issue, should I consider turning it off?Īny help or advice would be massively appreciated! Please, do let me know if that helps, but if that does not stop your connection dropping out, it may be worth looking into a Home Networking engineer to check over your network for any issues, as we can see that the connection up to the DKT on the wall is stable – we just need to work on that last few steps to bring your internet browsing back to it’s usual state. This is not ideal, but unfortunately this isn’t something that I have any control over – it may be worth trying a different router for a period of time, see if this is the cause of your intermittent connection as the router forgets it’s own IP address multiple times in a day. Looking at a higher level, I checked to see if your router had ever lost or forgotten it’s public settings and had to reconnect to our servers – this is a little odd, as I am seeing your router accept an IP address from our systems, then ask for another one near enough instantly. While there have been a handful of these breaks, there aren’t enough to be the cause of the issue – they are far more likely to be advised restarts from either your own troubleshooting, or on the advice of our care team. Starting at the bottom, the optical signal between your modem and the cabinet is good, we’re seeing an optical loss of -7dBm, which is very good – I’d only expect to see issues below -20dBm!Īfter checking that, I took a look to see how many times that link was broken – signifying an issue or a restart of either your connection in your cabinet, or your modem. After taking a look into your connection though, I was able to pin down where the issue lies. Since you are still facing the same issues even after swapping your Genexis for a DKT, it’s quite concerning that you are still losing connection through the day. My name is XXX, and I’ve ben looking into your connection to see what could be causing the issues you are facing. Thank you for contacting our care team, so sorry to hear you are having issues getting online, quite frequently from what our care team told me! I was convinced the issue with the internet would be at the cabinet or in the optical cable coming into the house, however my ISP has been able to complete some tests and have concluded that it is the router.

They have tried replacing my AIO Router (which is in bridge mode and just acting as a MODEM for my ASUS Router) but this did not work. I've been having an issue for around 6 months where my router loses internet for 30-60 seconds around 5-10 times a day.Īfter much frustration and annoyance, I have contacted my ISP to get the issue sorted.
